Activate Your “Life Force”
Perhaps the most widely known form of energy work, Reiki can have powerful healing effects.
Originating in Japan, Reiki is based on the concept that a “life force,” or energy, flows through us and causes us to be alive. It’s a concept common to many traditional healing systems.
The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words – rei, which means “universal,” and ki, which means “life force energy”. According to the Reiki tradition, we experience vitality when there is a harmonious exchange of energy and information between our body and our environment.
However, when this energy is disrupted, weakened or blocked, we may experience symptoms such as fatigue, unhappiness, and illness. Reiki helps activate the body’s natural healing abilities by channeling energy into the recipient.
How Reiki Works
The Reiki practitioner places their hands subtlety on, or above, the client’s body to allow Reiki energy to flow. Reiki uses specific hand positions, corresponding to organs and energy centers. Peace and relaxation are some of the reported effects of receiving a Reiki session. The less stress, the more vitality we invite into our lives.
Even if your health is already good, you can still benefit from Reiki, by gaining a more positive outlook on life, experiencing an increase in energy, or receiving clarity about a specific situation. Reiki also serves as a wonderful complementary modality to any type of medical or alternative treatment.
